How to Make Powdered Sugar
Have you ever encountered a recipe that called for powdered sugar or icing sugar and realized that all you have is plain ol' sugar? Well, you've almost solved your problem...I never have icing sugar because I only use raw cane sugar, honey and pure maple syrup as sweeteners. However, I occasionally come across a recipe that calls for it. Recently, it was required in a recipe for a lemon glaze that I wanted on top of my Lemon, Zucchini, and Raspberry Loaf.
I was just about to skip the glaze all together, when a voice inside reached out to me and said, "but Carly, what is powered sugar?"Okay, maybe it wasn't exactly a spiritual awakening, but it did dawn on me that powdered sugar is just freaking powdered sugar!
So, folks, I'm about to share the most straightforward how-to tutorial I've ever shared on this blog. Be prepared to be amazed...
How to Make Powdered Sugar
Step 1
Add a cup of plain white sugar or organic raw cane sugar (my preference) to a blender.
Step 2
Blend on high for about 5 minutes, pulsing periodically until you have sugar-dust and powder sugar.
Step 3
There is no step 3! You just made powdered sugar :) Just store in a jar until you need it!
